Freco FRECOMP™Sheet Materials Empower Li Auto with Enhanced Safety
Recently, Li Auto held a grand ceremony at the Rothlehner Automotive Parts (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. for the official launch of its self-developed CFRT (Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic) project. Participants from Li Auto, Rothlehner, and Freco were present at the event, along with leaders from the China Society of Automotive Engineers and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, who jointly witnessed this milestone. This marks significant progress in the application and development of domestically produced continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites for automotive lightweighting.
The application project involved a fuel tank underbody guard panel. The design and optimization plan were proposed by Li Auto, with Ningbo Freco supplying the "Fugang™" series continuous fiber board solution, and Röchling providing the processing plan and completing component manufacturing. Utilizing compression molding technology, through multiple rounds of development and optimization, the key puncture resistance performance of the product was ultimately enhanced at a lower cost, achieving the development targets and contributing to enhanced safety for Li Auto.
Ningbo Freco specializes in the development and industrial application of continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites. Currently, its main products are fiber fabric-reinforced thermoplastic composite boards/sheets. As one of the first domestic enterprises to achieve mass production in this field, it possesses extensive development experience and serves a wide range of industries, including automotive, consumer electronics, and sports equipment. Beyond material supply, the company offers comprehensive support in downstream processes such as sheet forming equipment, product structural design, and optimization. By shouldering all development costs except for mold expenses, Freyr enables customers to transform digital models into physical samples with significantly reduced development expenses, shorter cycles, and lower risks. This approach has garnered widespread customer support and recognition, and the company remains committed to deepening innovation in thermoplastic composite technology and applications.
